The article aims to show the different levels and varieties of irony found in “Bogowie”, a short story by Antoni Lange (1911). The Young Poland writer does not merely use the aforementioned technique, but also develops it in a creative way, giving the reader a chance to keep discovering its new uses. In the story, irony dominates the family relations, and at its centre is a little boy: the creator of an individual mythology, who provokes various situations where he is both the subject and the object of irony.
